ABOUT US

The Art & Architecture Journal (A&AJ) was founded in 1980, and re-launched with issue 61 in February 2005 as the UK's leading independent journal of contemporary art and architecture focusing on art in the public context.

The A&AJ is published quarterly as a 64 page colour magazine with over 40 articles per annum providing professional information and intelligence on public art commissions, projects and collaboration for a specialist readership working within the areas of art, contemporary urban culture and architecture.

The A&AJ comments on public art and design worldwide as a cross cultural and multidisciplinary activity including: commemorative and memorial public art - environmental and land art - sculpture parks and gardens - architecture and urban design - urban regeneration - corporate collections - art in health - interior design - crafts and applied art - education and training - 20th century history and theory - critical theory - critical debate and dialogue - temporary projects, performance and installations - festivals and biennials - political and community issues - experimental areas of film, digital media and sound - literature, dance and music.

Each issue has a theme; recent and future ones include: Art & the Travelling Landscape - Art in the Urban Context - Art & Urban Renaissance - The Great Artistic Metropolis - Art, Architecture & Light - Art & Landscape - European Public Art - Art & Health.

The A&AJ communicates to a dedicated and specialised professional readership including artists, arts administrators, architects, public art agencies, libraries, academics, local authorities, health authorities, interior designers, urban designers and planners, landscape architects, craftspeople, environmental organisations and property, construction and development.
