A presentation by Fred Brookes of Comedia on the A&B / CABE PROJECT scheme to support public art strategies embedded within the planning system. The placement of art and cultural activity within the design of the built environment. Artists Richard Wentworth and Anna Best presented the artists viewpoint. Jonathan Davis, CABE Director, Knowledge and skills, presented Artists for Places (CABE / Arts & Business / ACE partnership). Flora Bhattachary, A&B, presented INVEST. Supported by the London Borough of Camden, LCACE (London Centre for Arts and Cultural Enterrprise) and Create KX the conference also focused on the long term creative agenda for the mega-development at Kings Cross.

Developing out of Can Artists Make Great Places? Create KX and LCACE with the support of London Borough of Camden, invited you to explore the past present and future of public art strategies for Central London's biggest redevelopment in over a hundred years. A choice of two guided tours around Kings's Cross or along the Euston Road charted previous public realm commissions and interventions and revealed the physical and social landscape within which the new art and cultural activity will be sited. Followed by lunch, discussion and debate drawing together the themes of the conference with the issues and opportunities arising in King's Cross.
